Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Lateef Fagbemi visited the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) in Abuja on Monday to personally verify his declared assets and liabilities, as the CCB begins a renewed drive to audit public officers’ asset declarations.
Fagbemi said his visit was meant to clarify any potential grey areas and set an example for other political office-holders.
The CCB’s chairperson, Abdullahi Bello, explained that the verification exercise is not a probe but a confirmation that declared assets belong to the individuals asserting ownership.

The bureau is rolling out a new digital system that will cross-check declarations against national databases including those of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), to strengthen transparency and deter undeclared holdings.
