The Kaduna State Government says a Nigerian Air Force strike has neutralized fleeing bandits in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of the state.
Mr Samuel Aruwan, the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, confirming the incident in a statement said around 9:44am, his ministry received a distress call of an attack by bandits on Sabon Layi Village in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
He added that upon receiving confirmation that the bandits were shooting, rustling cattle, looting properties and committing other heinous crimes, the Air Component of Operation Whirl Punch was contacted for action, and the unit responded promptly to the location.
He also added that upon arrival, the Air Force noted regular activity at Sabon Layi, and sighted the fleeing bandits about four kilometers from the village.
Concluding his account of the incident, Mr. Aruwan states that after engaging the bandits in several passes, the Air Force confirmed the successful execution of their objective before withdrawing back to their base.
Gov. Nasir El-Rufai praised the Air Component for their prompt action and conveyed his gratitude for neutralizing the fleeing bandits.
