Super Falcons captain Rashidat Ajibade says the team’s mental strength and game-by-game strategy helped secure a 2-1 win over defending champions South Africa in their Women’s Africa Cup of Nations semi-final clash in Morocco.

Ajibade, who was named Woman of the Match, said Nigeria’s long-standing rivalry with South Africa since 1998 has always demanded psychological readiness, adding that each match has required a tailored tactical approach.

Head coach Justin Madugu admitted the equaliser from South Africa created a tense period for the team, but said quick tactical changes from the bench helped Nigeria regain control in the second half.

Madugu commended his players for remaining calm and focused under pressure, noting that their resilience will be vital when they face host nation Morocco in the final.
