Inter defender Manuel Akanji has spoken about his Nigerian heritage and early memories of football, as he settles into life in Milan after joining from Manchester City. The Swiss international, whose father is Nigerian, said his eagle tattoo was a tribute to the Super Eagles and a constant reminder of his roots.
Reflecting on his career journey, Akanji recalled his first football shirt, once worn by Italian striker Christian Vieri, and how he followed Inter from a young age. He also remembered the electric atmosphere when he first played at San Siro with Borussia Dortmund.

The 30-year-old has quickly established himself as a regular starter for Inter, featuring in five matches so far. While the Nerazzurri have begun strongly in the Champions League, their domestic form has been mixed, securing only nine points from their opening five Serie A fixtures.
