Operatives of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command have uncovered a gun manufacturing factory operated by a father and his sons. Various types of firearms were being fabricated at the site. The discovery was made following credible intelligence, according to the State Commissioner of Police, Joseph O. Eribo, during a press briefing at the Command Headquarters in Ikot Akpan Abia, Uyo.
The police stormed the factory and arrested one suspect, while others escaped. Items recovered included seven newly made single-barrel guns, five double-barrel guns, a special steel double-trigger pistol, a broken single-barrel gun, a trigger-handle walking stick knife, and several cut iron pipes used for crafting gun barrels. CP Eribo assured the public that efforts are underway to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
In another operation, the police arrested a suspected child trafficker, Promise Boniface, who had abducted five children from a single mother. The children were rescued unharmed and have since been reunited with their family.
