The Primate of the Anglican Communion, Most Reverend Henry Ndukuba, has called for the abolition of Nigeria’s current Constitution and the drafting of a new one that ensures justice and equity. Speaking at the Standing Committee Meeting of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, in Port Harcourt, he stressed that a citizen-driven Constitution is crucial to addressing the country’s challenges.
Ndukuba condemned the rising insecurity across Nigeria, urging authorities to take decisive action to restore peace. He attributed many of the crimes to foreign mercenaries allegedly hired by politicians and called for a National Reconciliation Commission to address deep-seated divisions. He further urged President Bola Tinubu to prioritise national unity and leave a lasting legacy.
Governor Siminalayi Fubara, in his remarks, assured that his administration is tackling key socio-economic issues, including youth development, workers’ welfare, and security. He reaffirmed his commitment to partnering with the church to promote positive societal values and enhance citizen re-orientation.
