Anti-graft war yielding results under Tinubu, says VP Shettima

Vice President Kashim Shettima says the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has secured over 7,000 convictions and recovered assets worth more than ₦500 billion in the past two years. He disclosed this in Abuja while declaring open a three-day capacity-building workshop for judges organised by the EFCC and the National Judicial Institute.

Mr Shettima, who represented President Bola Tinubu at the event, said the anti-graft agency’s success reflects the administration’s policy of non-interference in its operations. He added that recovered funds are being channelled into key social investment initiatives such as the student loan and consumer credit schemes.

The Vice President also said the government has improved the welfare of judicial officers to strengthen the rule of law and accountability in public service. He noted that no public official, regardless of political affiliation, is shielded from investigation or prosecution.

Mr Shettima urged judges to remain patriotic and impartial in the fight against corruption, warning that no sector of society is immune from its consequences. He said a strong and transparent judiciary remains essential to achieving a corruption-free Nigeria.
