APC Dismisses Speculation Over Tinubu’s 2027 Running Mate

Ruling APC postpones national caucus and NEC meetings amid internal consultations

The All Progressives Congress has dismissed reports suggesting that Vice President Kashim Shettima could be replaced as President Bola Tinubu’s running mate ahead of the 2027 general election. The party described the claims as speculative, untrue and baseless.

In a statement issued on Monday, the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, said the reports were aimed at promoting discord and confusion in the polity. He urged media organisations to refrain from amplifying what he described as rumours from mischievous sources, adding that the ban on political activities remains in force under existing laws and electoral regulations.

The party said it remains focused on supporting President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima in delivering the administration’s renewed hope agenda. It also cautioned ministers, senior government officials and party leaders against fuelling unnecessary speculation, urging them to concentrate on diligent service and the success of the Tinubu administration.
