APC Sweeps Ogun Local Government Polls Amid Controversy

The All Progressives Congress, APC, has secured victory in all 20 local government areas and 236 wards in Ogun State’s local elections held on Saturday.

Chairman of the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission, Babatunde Osibodu, announced the results at the commission’s Abeokuta headquarters during a live broadcast. According to Osibodu, 613,156 votes were cast in the chairmanship elections, which involved candidates from 19 political parties.

The exercise, however, faced allegations of voter intimidation, late arrival of materials, and harassment.

The Labour Party rejected the results before their formal announcement and hinted at potential legal action. A member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, Chief Toyin Amuzu, also described Saturday’s local government election in the state as a complete charade, as he called on Nigerians to vote out the APC in the 2027 general elections.
