APC Wins All 25 Councils in Niger State Local Government Elections

APC Wins All 25 Councils in Niger State Local Government Elections

The All Progressives Congress has won all 25 chairmanship seats in the Niger State Local Government elections held across the state.

The results were confirmed by the Niger State Independent Electoral Commission, which described the exercise as credible, transparent, and reflective of the people’s will. The Commission said all Returning Officers concluded collation and declaration of results in line with electoral laws.

In a statement, the Commissioner for Operations, Mohammed Liman, said the Commission ratified the results after a careful review and confirmed the winners who met all legal requirements. Among those elected are Sayuti Ibrahim Halilu in Agaie, Usman Mohammed in Bida, Mustapha Jibrin in Chanchaga, Lawal Yusuf in Kontagora, and Mohammed Lokogoma in Wushishi.

The APC also dominated the councillorship elections, securing 271 of the 274 ward seats, while the Peoples Democratic Party won two and one went to another party. Liman congratulated all elected officials and urged them to be transparent and accountable.

He thanked security agencies, political parties, observers, and voters for their cooperation during the polls and announced that Certificates of Return would be issued to the winners on a date to be communicated by the Commission.
