Troops of the 6 Division of the Nigerian Army have arrested 19 suspected oil thieves, destroyed 22 illegal refining sites and recovered more than 180,000 litres of stolen petroleum products across the Niger Delta. The operations were carried out between November 23 and December 28, 2025, according to a statement issued on Monday in Port Harcourt.
The Army said the recovered products, valued at over ₦150 million, were seized during coordinated operations with other security agencies aimed at disrupting oil theft, pipeline vandalism and economic sabotage in the region. The statement was signed by the Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, 6 Division, Lieutenant Colonel Danjuma Jonah Danjuma.
In Rivers State, troops uncovered more than 10,500 litres of stolen crude oil at Ogale Community in Eleme Local Government Area and destroyed illegal refining sites in Ahoada West and Abua Odual areas. In Bayelsa State, large volumes of stolen crude were recovered at Southern Ijaw, Yenagoa and Ogbia local government areas, while a truck carrying 45,000 litres of diverted petroleum products was intercepted in Delta State.

Further seizures were recorded in Akwa Ibom State, where a warehouse stocked with illegally refined Automotive Gasoline Oil was discovered in Abak Local Government Area. The General Officer Commanding, 6 Division, Major General Emmanuel Eric Emekah, commended the troops and called on residents to provide credible information, as the Army reaffirmed its commitment to protecting national assets in the Niger Delta.
