Army Chief Oluyede, IGP Disu Push Stronger Security Coordination

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, and the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu, have called for stronger collaboration among Nigeria’s security agencies to address persistent insecurity across the country. The call followed engagements between the leadership of the Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Police Force aimed at improving joint operations and coordination in tackling threats.

Both security chiefs emphasised the importance of improved intelligence sharing and a unified operational approach in responding to terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and other criminal activities. They noted that effective collaboration between the military and police remains critical to achieving sustainable security outcomes in affected regions.

According to the officials, ongoing security operations require closer cooperation across all agencies, particularly in areas where threats overlap and require joint intervention. They warned that gaps in communication and coordination could undermine operational effectiveness and slow progress in restoring peace.
