Army Chief Urges Personnel to Redouble Efforts Against Crime in 2025

The Chief of Army Staff has called on military personnel to intensify efforts in combating insurgency, terrorism, and other forms of crime as the nation moves into 2025. This charge was delivered during the 2024 West Africa Social Activities (WASA) at the 103 Battalion in Enugu State.  

The annual event provides a platform for soldiers, their families, and other security agencies to unwind and foster social connections. Speaking at the occasion, the Commanding Officer of 103 Battalion, Lieutenant-Colonel Waheed Shittu, reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to professionalism, courage, and dedication.

In his address, Lieutenant-Colonel Shittu also highlighted the significance of social interaction within the barracks and the need for public appreciation of the military’s efforts. He stressed the battalion’s resolve to maintain security for law-abiding citizens while decisively addressing criminal activities in Enugu State and its environs.  

“This NOHU event also provides forum for social interaction and an opportunity for the general public to appreciate the barracks. The battalion shall, in collaboration with other security agencies, continue to ensure security and safety of all law-abiding citizens while dealing appropriately with criminal elements in individual states and its environment. As a battalion, we shall continue to remain disciplined, dedicated, courageous, and professional in our conduct and endeavors.”

The 103 Battalion pledged to uphold its duty to safeguard lives and property as part of its contribution to national security.
