The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has called for enhanced cooperation between the Nigerian military and the media as part of efforts to address the nation’s pressing security challenges.
Speaking at the 2024 Media Workshop of the Nigerian Army School of Public Relations and Information, held at the Muhammadu Buhari Cantonment in Abuja, Lieutenant General Oluyede underscored the media’s critical role in shaping public perception, fostering unity, and supporting military operations.
While noting that the media serves as a force multiplier in our operations, he urged journalists to embrace objectivity and factual reporting to advance national security.

Highlighting the evolving nature of modern conflicts, the Army Chief explained that while battles against terrorism, insurgency, and banditry are fought on the ground, their outcomes are often influenced by narratives in the media space.
