Troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army and operatives of the Department of State Services have arrested a suspected gunrunner in Wukari, Taraba State. The joint operation took place around Ambassador Roundabout and led to the arrest of 29-year-old Bulyami Shuaib, a native of Belango Village in Karim Lamido Local Government Area.
A statement by the Army’s Public Relations Officer, Umar Muhammad, said the suspect is believed to be a major arms trafficker in the region. Recovered items include over 360 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, cash totalling ₦842,100, mobile phones, a motorcycle, and other personal belongings.

Authorities say Shuaib is currently in custody and cooperating with investigators by providing useful intelligence to aid further operations.
Commander of the 6 Brigade, Brigadier General Kingsley Uwa, commended the troops and reiterated the army’s commitment to working with other security agencies to rid the region of criminal elements.
