Army Neutralizes Three Suspected Bandits In Mangu

A team of Operation Safe Haven has neutralized three suspected bandits believed to be among those terrorizing communities in the Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State. 

The spokesman of Operation Safe Haven, Captain James Oya in a statement in Jos says the team from Operation SAFE HAVEN were responding to a distress call in Mangu LGA on wednesday when they were ambushed along the Mangun-Pushit-Mangu road by a group of bandits believed to be amongst the criminals fermenting trouble in Mangu LGA. 

He also added the team cleared the ambush in which three bandits were killed. Three AK47 Rifles, 14 rounds of 7.62mm Special rounds, 1 Motorcycle and a Constabulary Police ID card were recovered from them, while others escaped with gunshot wounds.

The Commander of Operation Safe Haven, and General Officer Commanding 3 Armoured Division, Major General AE Abubakar, reiterating the army’s resolve, said they would continue to be firm, bold, decisive and just in the discharge of their mandate within the ambit of the law. 

General Abubakar also added that with the redeployment of his Headquarters to Mangu LGA in Plateau State, all distress calls would be responded to promptly as several Combat Teams have been dispatched to remote areas in the Local Government for enhanced rapid response.
