The Nigerian Army has launched an investigation into the killing of a hotel manager in Abia, Mr. Achimugu James Etubi, who was allegedly tortured to death by its troops.
Personnel of the Nigerian Army allegedly tortured Etubi to death over the death of one Nigerian Air Force cadet, Emmanuel Onyemereche, who drowned in the hotel’s swimming pool.

Spokesman of the Nigerian Army, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, said any personnel found culpable of wrongdoing will face appropriate legal sanctions in line with the military tradition.
Major General Nwachukwu, who extended the army’s condolences to the families of the deceased Manager Mr Achimugu James Etubi and the Nigerian Air Force Officer Cadet Emmanuel Chidiebere Onyemereche, also says every effort will be made to ensure that justice is served.
