Association of Private Medical Practitioners Kick Against 5-Year Service for Doctors

Lending its voice to the ongoing debate over a National Assembly Bill seeking a compulsory five-year term of service before fully licensing a medical doctor in Nigeria, the Association of Nigerian Private Medical Practitioners (ANPMP) says that a national emergency should instead be declared in the health sector.

Speaking during an interview, the National President of the association, Dr Kayode Adesola, says the proposed bill would have a negative effect on the health sector as it was premised on the wrong notion that it would not solve the brain drain in the sector.

Dr. Adesola also added that the outdated equipment and dilapidated state of our hospitals cry for, and need urgent attention. He also cites underfunding of the sector as being responsible for the deaths of many Nigerians.
