ASUU To Appeal Court Ruling, to Discontinue Strike And Resume Back To Classrooms

The Academic Staff Union of Universities has reacted to the ruling of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria, which ordered the lecturers to resume academic activities on Wednesday. 

According to the National President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU),  Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, the union will appeal the ruling of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria (NICN). 

The court had on Wednesday, ordered ASUU to discontinue its 7-month strike, ruling in favor of the Federal Government. 

 The union’s president says, their lawyer is filing an appeal and stay of execution of the ruling while appealing to members to remain calm and strong.  

Dr. Dele Ashiru, the Chairman of ASUU, University of Lagos chapter, described the ruling as “unfair and rather shameful.”
