Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has condemned a recent military-style parade held for Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, describing the event as a serious breach of military tradition.

In a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser, Paul Ibe, Mr Abubakar called for a thorough investigation into the incident, which he labelled an affront to the integrity of the Nigerian Armed Forces.

He argued that no branch of the military should conduct a formal parade for an individual who holds no designated public or official military role.

The 2023 presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, also raised concerns about the legitimacy of the group involved, identified as the Nigeria Cadet Network. Mr Abubakar pointed out that the organisation is not a recognised entity within the Nigerian Armed Forces, questioning the basis of its involvement in such a display.
