Atiku, Obi console Chimamanda Adichie over son’s death

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, have joined others in consoling acclaimed Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and her husband, Dr Ivara Esege, over the death of their son, Nkanu Nnamdi.

The 21-month-old child died on Wednesday after a brief illness, according to a family statement issued on Thursday. The family described themselves as devastated and appealed for privacy as they mourn their loss.

President Bola Tinubu was among the first to express condolences, offering prayers and asking God to grant the family strength and solace. Atiku Abubakar, in a message shared on social media platform X, also prayed for comfort, peace and strength for the Adichie and Esege families.
