Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar is seeking a single six-year single tenure for anyone who becomes president of Nigeria.
In a memorandum to the senate ad hoc committee on the constitution review, the former Vice-President is proposing amendments to sections 130(1), 135(2), and 137(1)(b) of the constitution.
The former presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in 2023, also said the presidency should be rotational among the six geo-political zones of the country.

He added that his proposed amendments will enthrone the discipline that is needed in a democracy. In February 2024, the Senate Ad hoc Committee on the Review of the 1999 Constitution set a timeframe of 24 months to complete the exercise.
