Spotify has named Ayra Starr as the leading female Afrobeats artist of the past year, describing her as the pop star of Afrobeats. The streaming platform’s latest ranking places Grammy winner Tems in second place, with American-Cameroonian singer Libianca in third. Malian-French performer Aya Nakamura is fourth, while British-Nigerian singer Darkoo rounds off the top five.
Notably absent was South Africa’s Tyla, despite dominating award ceremonies over the past year.

Spotify also unveiled its top Afrobeats acts in Latin America, with Nigerians claiming every spot. Rema leads the list, followed by Ayra Starr and CKay. Burna Boy and Wizkid complete the rankings, underlining Nigeria’s global dominance of the Afrobeats scene.
