Bandits have attacked Tashar Kuturu in Jangebe village, Talata Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara State, abducting women and children and setting shops on fire. The attack occurred in the early hours of Monday, with residents reporting heavy gunfire as the assailants overpowered the community.
The chairman of Muryar Talata Mafara, Kabiru Jangebe, said the attackers arrived with sophisticated weapons, injuring at least one person and burning several shops after looting property including medicines. He said the operation lasted about two hours and forced many residents to flee into the bush, while security personnel were unable to confront the bandits due to superior firepower.

The chairman of Talata Mafara Local Government Area, Yahaya Abubakar Yari, confirmed that 23 people were kidnapped in Tashar Kuturu, with one escaping, leaving 22 still in captivity. He added that bandits also attacked Matura village in Kagara District on Sunday, abducting three people and killing one, while efforts are ongoing to rescue those held.
