Bandits Abduct Residents in Night Attacks on Katsina Communities

Several people have been abducted after armed bandits attacked a number of communities in Katsina State during coordinated night raids. According to Eyewitnesses the attacks took place on Monday night, with gunmen operating for several hours.

Security sources said the attackers first struck Unguwar Alhaji Barau before moving to Gidan Dan Mai-gizo and Gidan Hazo, all in Na’alma Ward of Malumfashi Local Government Area. Residents said the bandits were heavily armed and caused widespread fear.

There has been no official confirmation of the number of people abducted or injured. The spokesman of the Katsina State Police Command, Abubakar Sadiq, said he was not aware of the incident when contacted but promised to make enquiries.

Malumfashi is considered one of the frontline local government areas affected by banditry in Katsina State, despite recent peace agreements between local authorities and armed groups.
