The Niger State Police Command has confirmed the killing of six people by suspected bandits in Damala village, via Wawa, near New Bussa, in Borgu Local Government Area.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Minna that the attack happened on Thursday at about midday, when a farmer identified as Deshi and his son were ambushed while heading to their farm in Damala village, close to the Wawa National Park forest.
He said the son escaped and returned to Wawa to alert family members and residents, who later mobilised with local vigilantes to search for the farmer. The group was, however, ambushed by the attackers during the search.
