Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State is considering a move from the Peoples Democratic Party to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), saying the party could challenge the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections. He spoke after a meeting with an ADC delegation at the Presidential Lodge in Bauchi.
The delegation was led by Babachir David Lawal and came on behalf of ADC National Chairman David Mark, who had invited the governor to join the party. Mohammed described the ADC as a preferred option but said consultations are still ongoing before a final decision is made.
The governor indicated that a decision could be announced as early as Thursday. He said the PDP is currently facing internal challenges and efforts to resolve its crisis have not been successful, prompting pressure from his supporters to consider other political platforms.

Mohammed added that committees have been set up in Abuja and Bauchi to review available options. He said remaining in an unstable political environment is no longer viable, while the ADC delegation noted that his entry would strengthen opposition unity ahead of the coming elections.
