The Benue and Enugu State Police Commands have strengthened their partnership to curb rising interstate crimes along their shared borders. Commissioners of Police, Emenari Ifeanyi Innocent of Benue and Mamman Bitrus Giwa of Enugu, met on Wednesday in Benue State to outline new joint strategies.
During the strategic session, the police chiefs identified the infiltration of criminal groups and their collaboration with local accomplices in border areas as major threats to regional security. They agreed to improve coordination through intelligence sharing, joint deployments, and regular inter-command meetings.

A statement from Enugu Police spokesperson, Daniel Ndukwe, said the renewed partnership will focus on border communities including Ado, Ogbadibo, and Okpokwu in Benue, as well as Igbo-Eze North, Isi-Uzo, and Udenu in Enugu State.
The two commands recently recorded successes in joint operations that led to the arrest of suspects, rescue of kidnapped victims, and recovery of stolen items. Senior officers from both states also pledged continued collaboration to safeguard lives and property across the region.
