The Benue state government has cautioned residents against the consumption of dead animals to avert contracting anthrax disease.
Dr Edward Amali, who heads the State Committee on Prevention and Control of Anthrax, gave the advice in the state capital yesterday.

He stated that the caution became necessary following the discovery of butchers who are in the habit of selling already dead animals.
Dr Amali condemned the practice assuring that the government would embark on a house-to-house sensitisation on the dangers of the disease.
