A bill to amend Nigeria’s constitution and allow diaspora voting has passed its second reading in the House of Representatives on Wednesday.
Co-sponsored by Speaker Abbas Tajudeen and Representative Sodeeq Abdullahi, the bill seeks to amend the 2022 Electoral Act to enable Nigerians living abroad to participate in elections.

Initially passed for a second reading in July and referred to the Committee on Electoral Matters, the bill was reintroduced and has now been directed to the Constitution Amendment Committee for further review.
This legislative move is part of efforts to expand voting rights and ensure inclusivity for millions of Nigerians residing outside the country.
