Black Queens Under Pressure Ahead of Must-Win Clash Against Mali

Ghana’s Black Queens are under mounting pressure as they prepare to face Mali in a must-win Group C tie at WAFCON 2024, following a 2–0 defeat to defending champions South Africa.

Despite dominating spells and twice striking the crossbar in Oujda, Morocco, Ghana failed to find the net. Head coach Kim Björkegren, just six months into the job, expressed disappointment but praised his team’s spirit.

Veterans Evelyn Badu and Alice Kusi went close, but goals from Jermaine Seoposenwe and Linda Motlhalo, including a penalty, handed South Africa the win.

Ghana must now avoid defeat on Friday or risk another early group-stage exit.
