The Defence Headquarters has confirmed a surprise attack by Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists on troops stationed at a stabilisation site in Gubio Local Government Area of Borno State. The attack, which occurred over the weekend, led to the death of five soldiers, ten others wounded, and four reported missing.

In a statement, the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, disclosed that troops repelled the attack, eliminating several terrorists and recovering weapons. However, enemy forces destroyed equipment, including a gun truck, three tactical vehicles, and an excavator.

Meanwhile, in a press release signed by the Borno State Commissioner for Information and Internal Security Usman Tar, Governor Babagana Zulum has commiserated with the military, describing the incident as a reminder of the callousness of Boko Haram terrorists.
