The Bureau of Public Procurement, BPP, has proposed a significant budget increase of N72.7 billion for 2025, marking a 2,040% rise from its current N3.3 billion allocation.
Defending the proposal before the House of Representatives Committee on Public Procurement, BPP Director-General Adebowale Adedokun highlighted critical priorities. He said 80% of the proposed funds would address office accommodation challenges, while the remainder would bolster nationwide project monitoring, evaluation, and the development of an electronic procurement system.

Adedokun warned that the agency’s current budgetary ceiling undermines its objectives, adding that their office conditions are dire, with rodents posing a significant challenge.
Committee Chairman Honourable Unyime Idem acknowledged the inadequacy of the current budget and pledged the National Assembly’s consideration of the proposed increase.
