The United Kingdom has appointed Richard Montgomery as the new British High Commissioner to Nigeria.
High Commissioner Montgomery presented his credentials to President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House in Abuja yesterday.Â
He takes over from Catriona Laing who recently concluded her four years in the position.
High Commissioner Montgomery has worked in different parts of the world including previously in Nigeria as Country Director of the Department of International Development (DFID) from 2009 to 2013.Â

Prior to becoming the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, he was the UK Executive Director at the World Bank Group Board from 2018 to 2022 in Washington DC, USA.
While at DFID, he served as Director for Asia, Caribbean & Overseas Territories Division as well as Country Director for Pakistan.
