American pop star Britney Spears has sold the rights to her music catalogue in a deal reported to be worth around $200 million. The agreement was finalised at the end of December and involves the publishing company Primary Wave acquiring the rights.
The catalogue includes some of her most famous hits, such as “…Baby One More Time” and “Toxic.” The deal follows a trend of major artists monetising their music rights in recent years.
Although the exact financial details have not been officially disclosed, local media in the United States of America say the figure is comparable to similar catalogue sales by other top artists.

Spears has not publicly commented on the sale. Her catalogue sale is among the largest of its kind and reflects continued investor interest in music royalties as a valuable asset class.
