Enyimba forward Brown Ideye has voiced his dissatisfaction with the current state of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL). Speaking candidly about the league’s challenges, Ideye stated that the NPFL is “getting worse” and emphasised the need for significant improvements.
“The system is getting worse, the league is not getting better,” Ideye said. “We have a long way to go.” He pointed out several issues, including poor travel arrangements, inadequate feeding, and substandard hotel accommodations, which he believes affect players’ overall well-being.

Ideye also expressed concerns about Nigeria’s preparedness for continental football, saying, “We should put our house in order before we go play continental competitions, instead of going there to disgrace ourselves.”
The former Super Eagles striker, who joined Enyimba in December 2024, has scored twice for the nine-time Nigerian champions. Despite his appreciation for his time at the club, he urged that the league’s structural issues be addressed for better future success.
