Former Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, has paid tribute to the late President Muhammadu Buhari, describing him as a true statesman who led with dignity, integrity and a deep sense of responsibility to the Nigerian people. Ambode said Buhari’s unwavering commitment to justice, national unity and progress left an indelible mark on the country’s history.
Reflecting on Buhari’s relationship with Lagos, Ambode recalled the former president’s strong support for the state, including the concession of several federal properties. He specifically mentioned the Presidential Lodge in Marina and the upgrade of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport Road into a multi-carriage highway, which demonstrated Buhari’s recognition of Lagos as a state with special status.

Ambode praised the late president’s calm resolve and his belief in the promise of Nigeria, noting that he governed with a fear of God and a clear dedication to national development. He described Buhari’s leadership as pivotal in guiding the country through key moments in its democratic journey.
On behalf of his family, Ambode extended heartfelt condolences to the Buhari family and the people of Nigeria. He prayed that Almighty Allah would accept the late president’s good deeds and grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus, while also granting the nation the strength to bear the loss.
