We go back to ECOWAS.

Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger will formally withdraw from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) by 29 January 2025, according to a statement issued at the conclusion of the 66th ECOWAS Summit in Abuja.

The summit, held at the Old Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, saw ECOWAS leaders deliberate on the trio’s decision to leave the regional bloc. Omar Touray, President of the ECOWAS Commission, confirmed the development while reading the summit’s communiqué. He said that the bloc respects the sovereignty of the three nations in their decision to exit.
