The Corporate Affairs Commission says it delisted more than 400,000 inactive and non-compliant companies from Nigeria’s official companies register in 2025. The registrar-general of the commission, Hussaini Magaji, disclosed this in Abuja during a Celebration Walk organised by the CAC.
Mr Magaji said the exercise was carried out to clean up the commission’s database and safeguard the integrity of the national companies register. He added that the CAC has transitioned from a manual, location-based system to a fully digital, end-to-end registration platform, allowing Nigerians at home and abroad to register businesses remotely at any time.

He said the reforms have improved the ease of doing business and strengthened confidence in the corporate regulatory environment. Mr Magaji also said the CAC, in partnership with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria, facilitated free business registration for 250,000 entrepreneurs, and has operationalised a beneficial ownership register to promote transparency and accountability.
