The Confederation of African Football, CAF, has fined the Algerian Football Federation $100,000 for the “inappropriate behaviour” of players and officials following their 2-0 quarter-final loss to Nigeria at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. The post-match aggression included confrontations with match officials and Nigerian players.
CAF’s disciplinary committee broke down the sanctions, imposing $25,000 for on-field misconduct, $15,000 for yellow cards and supporter disruptions, and $60,000 for abusive gestures and failure to comply with security measures.
The governing body also suspended Algerian players Rafik Belghali and Luca Zidane for four and two matches respectively, due to their roles in the post-match scuffle.

The Algerian Football Federation has announced it will appeal the sanctions, seeking to overturn the fines and suspensions imposed by CAF.
