Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman has been named in the best eleven of the group stage at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, according to a list released by the Confederation of African Football on Friday. The Atalanta winger is the only Nigerian player selected in the line-up.
The 28-year-old scored two goals and provided two assists as the Super Eagles finished top of Group C with nine points from three matches. Lookman netted the winning goal in Nigeria’s opening game against Tanzania and scored again in the victory over Tunisia.
Nigeria’s head coach, Eric Chelle, was also recognised as the best manager of the group stage following his team’s strong performance. Morocco had two players, Brahim Diaz and Noussair Mazraoui, included in the selection, while Ivory Coast’s Amad Diallo led the attack.

Senegal’s Sadio Mane, Algeria’s Riyad Mahrez and Egypt goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy also made the list. Cameroon’s Carlos Baleba, Congo DR’s Axel Tuanzebe, Tunisia’s Ali Abdi and Burkina Faso defender Edmond Tapsoba completed the best eleven, as the Super Eagles prepare to face Mozambique in the round of 16.
