Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has been nominated for the 2025 CAF Men’s Player of the Year Award, two years after winning the prestigious title in 2023. His name appears on the 10-man shortlist released by the Confederation of African Football.
The list also includes Mohamed Salah of Egypt, Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi and Oussama Lamlioui, Guinea’s Seyrou Guirassy, Congo’s Fiston Mayele, Cameroon’s Frank Anguissa, Gabon’s Denis Bouanga, and Senegalese stars Illmane Ndiaye and Pape Sarr.
Osimhen had a standout season with Galatasaray, scoring 26 league goals to secure the club’s title and a record €75 million transfer from Napoli. He also played a key role in helping Nigeria reach the 2026 World Cup playoffs, with six goals in qualification matches.

Nigeria’s goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has been shortlisted for the Goalkeeper of the Year award, while Daniel Bameyi, captain of the Flying Eagles, is nominated for the Young Player of the Year. On the women’s side, Rasheedat Ajibade and Esther Okoronkwo represent Nigeria among the nominees for CAF Women’s Best Player.
