The Confederation of African Football, CAF, has announced that the 2024 African Nations Championship will now take place in August 2025.
In a statement released on Tuesday, CAF highlighted significant progress made by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, the co-hosts of the tournament, in the construction and upgrading of essential infrastructure. These include stadiums, training facilities, hotels, hospitals, and other amenities critical for a successful competition.

However, CAF’s Technical and Infrastructure team, including experts stationed in the host nations, has advised that additional time is needed to meet the required standards for hosting the event.
CAF confirmed that the draw for the biennial tournament will proceed as planned in Nairobi on Wednesday. Details of the exact start date in August 2025 are expected to be announced in the coming months.
