Cameroon beat South Africa 2-1 to reach AFCON quarter-finals

Cameroon has knocked South Africa out of the Africa Cup of Nations after a 2–1 victory in their round of 16 match at the Agdal Medina Stadium in Rabat. The five-time champions took control of the high-tempo encounter, capitalising on South Africa’s missed chances in the first half.

Defender Junior Tchamadeu opened the scoring in the 34th minute with a low finish from a deflected cross, before Christian Kofane doubled Cameroon’s lead with a header from Mahamadou Nagida’s delivery. South Africa pulled one back late on through Evidence Makgopa, who converted from close range two minutes from time.

Despite late pressure from the Bafana Bafana, Cameroon held on to secure the win. The Indomitable Lions will now face tournament hosts Morocco in the quarter-finals, after Morocco defeated Tanzania 1–0 earlier on Sunday.
