One of Nigeria’s opposition parties, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has dismissed claims circulating online that a Canadian court labelled both the PDP and the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, as terrorist organisations.
PDP National Executive Committee member Timothy Osadolor, who spoke to the press, said the ruling was misguided, arguing it should have targeted individuals linked to terrorism, not entire political parties. He accused Canada of unfairly grouping the PDP with a party he says has, in his own words, ‘brought ignominy’ to the country.

Mr. Osadolor described the development as a diplomatic embarrassment for Nigeria and a “wake-up call” for President Bola Tinubu to prioritise national security.
The APC and Federal Government have yet to respond. Senior officials say the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will issue a statement once the ruling’s authenticity is confirmed.
