A tragic canoe accident has resulted in the death of four people in Dikwa, Borno State.
According to a statement by the Public Relations Officer, Borno State Police Command, ASP Nahum Daso said they received reports that the accident occurred on Monday in Bakassi community, between Mafa and Dikwa along Maiduguri Road, Borno State.
The incident involved a canoe carrying passengers submerged in floodwaters, leading to the loss of four females who were all from Bulabulin Ward, Dikwa.
The victims have been identified as Ya Mallum Shettima, an adult female from Marte LGA, Maimuna Akura, 10 years old, Umira Alhaji Bulama, 6 years old, and five months old Yagana Bulama Kawu.

The victims were taken to the Dikwa General Hospital, where their demise was confirmed by a medical doctor and their corpses later released to their respective families for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.
