Veteran entertainer Charly Boy has criticised the Bariga Local Council Development Area for renaming the popular ‘Charly Boy Bus Stop’ in Gbagada to ‘Baddo Bus Stop’ as part of a street rebranding initiative.
The council chairman, Kolade David, said the change was to honour prominent Nigerians who have elevated the country’s global image, but the decision has triggered backlash from citizens and fans of the activist-musician.

Reacting on social media, Charly Boy described the move as an attempt to erase his legacy, saying the name was given by the people, not politicians, in recognition of his impact in the community.
He said the renaming reflects fear of his refusal to conform, asserting that, “You can rename a place, but you can’t rename a legacy. Legacy lives in hearts, not signboards.”
