Nigeria’s Super Eagles have advanced to the 2026 World Cup play-offs after a resounding 4–0 win over Benin in Uyo. Victor Osimhen was the star of the night, scoring a stunning hat-trick that thrilled home fans at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium and sealed Nigeria’s second-place finish in their group with 17 points.
Head coach Eric Chelle, visibly delighted, described Osimhen as “the best striker in the world” and praised his players for adapting quickly to a new philosophy. The Malian tactician said the result marked “a beginning, not the end,” as the team looks ahead to the play-offs in Morocco.
