The Actors Guild of Nigeria has confirmed that its newly elected president, Abubakar Yakubu, was involved in a fatal road accident in Lagos. Emeka Rollas, former AGN president, said the crash occurred on Tuesday night after Yakubu’s vehicle suffered a mechanical failure, specifically a brake failure. The collision led to the death of a child and left the child’s mother injured.
Rollas said Yakubu fully cooperated with law enforcement and emergency responders at the scene. He added that AGN officials have visited the affected family to offer condolences and support. According to him, Yakubu was physically unharmed but remains deeply shaken by the tragedy.
In an official statement, the AGN described the crash as a tragic accident and said the family had shown remarkable understanding. The guild noted that the matter had been resolved amicably and urged the public to avoid speculation while all parties continue to recover.

Responding to reports of Yakubu’s alleged arrest, Rollas said the guild would formally address the rumour. Efforts to obtain police confirmation were unsuccessful. Yakubu was elected AGN president last week after defeating Rita Daniels by a narrow margin.
