China Looks To Increase Economic Cooperation With Nigeria

Chinese President, XI Jinping, has pledged increased economic cooperation with Nigeria, saying the country is important to Africa and the world.

A statement by Mr Tunde Rahman, Office of the President, says the Chinese president spoke through his Special Envoy, Peng Qinghua, Vice Chairperson, Standing Committee of National People’s Congress, People’s Republic of China.

At a meeting with President Bola Tinubu, the Chinese envoy noted that Nigeria and China currently enjoy good bilateral relations and economic cooperation. 

He also noted that Chinese companies are doing well in Nigeria in railways, roads, hydropower and free trade zones.

Mr. Qinghua called for the two countries to share ideas and align strategies.

He also urged President Tinubu to create a more conducive environment for investment. 

In his response, the President said Nigeria is open for business and constructive partnerships, and will do business with any country ready to do business with Nigeria. 

He also promised that his administration will work to promote ease-of-doing business.
